Title:  Secrets of Phys. Rev. Letts

Speaker: Dr. Robert Garisto, Editor of PRL

Time: 4:15PM-5:15PM, Nov. 6th; Thursday.

Location: Modern Physics Department, Room 210

Abstract: This will be a view inside of Physical Review Letters (PRL).  I will describe how the review process works, how we pick our highlighted papers, and how things have changed since we reaffirmed standards a year ago.  I will also present some illuminating statistics and talk about journal metrics.  If there is time, I will show some interesting and illustrative correspondence.  And I will give you some advice on how to succeed with your PRL submissions.

Robert Garisto received Ph.D. in theoretical high energy physics at the University of Michigan, and then worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Canadian National Lab TRIUMF. He joined PRL in 1994. Robert was elected an APS Fellow in 2013.
