报告摘要: General Relativity is the best model available to describe gravity. When general relativity is applied to the entire Universe, this is cosmology. Cosmology, however, is plagued by two serious problems, the dark energy problem and the dark matter problem. Dark energy and dark matter together make up approximately 95\% of the energy content of the Universe. There does not exist a satisfactory theoretical model for either of those. This fact is used to motivate the study of theories which are `beyond' general relativity. Such theories are collectively known as modified theories of gravity. This talk gives a broad overview of the different types of theories, briefly shows some of my recent results in this field, and discusses future research challenges.
